On the knive edge - F3B (24/8/00)

30-th July we came back from Steifenfeld Cup near by Vienna. Wind was quite strong (max cca 12m/s, NW i.e. 90° to start and flying path) and generally flying conditions were hard. Steifenfeld is known with not so much space for nearly 50 pilots.

Good landing area is cca15m on your left winch side or not full 10m on right side. Living this space is to be in big trouble. On left side you will hit either railing, nice airfield house or organizers sitting on base A.

On right side you either land to lines, to winches (yes several times happened) or to field (this is the best but not without danger, there are stones, big terrain waves and sunflowers).

It is necessary to say that nothing serious happened thanks to excellent, problemless, liberal organization and level of pilot skills.

Fortunatelly the end was not so big tragedy as could look like, but still as I am not wrong this E3CAM didnīt finished the round...

...but this is like from Alfred Hitchcock movie. In this horror is starring Supermaster of Rudi Schaub (CH). F3B jet is passing by (distance task) heads of complete Squadra Azzurra (I) only by decimeters. Fuselage of Supermaster is blue and wings are yellow (not so good evident on picture). Hmmm, strong cup of cappuccino.
