Straight Down!- F3F (18/09/03) |

HoheWand (BigRock), this was always for me sounding a bit misteriously. I'v heard about this competition already three years before from my comrade Vaclav Vojtisek (Sting family designer and producer). And I didn't understand 100% what's going on there. Throwing glider down from more than 300 meters high rock and flying ten laps down facing you! Maybe will not attract too much F3F purists but its definite challenge. Last year I was there for the first time. Thrilling experience; and if respecting for example opinion of Alexis Marechal one is not surprised that this competition is closing one of every year F3F Eurotour series. Its funny, this year my first flight was third one at all on this rock. Last year there was bad weather and even some questionable organizers measures which allowed to fly only 2 rounds. It was good luck to fly this September 4 rounds. Years before everybody was responsible for carrying his gliders up and going down to be ready for launch. This year organizers offered shuttle which was taking care about your "toys" and you could sit down and watch how your competition proceeds-this was very good idea, thanx! Seems to me Austrians are very good in F3F. Theirs nature environment allows them to experience all extremes of F3F incl. HoheWand. When you look at F3F Eurotour rating you see I'm not mistaken. Theirs hegemony is rarely upset (by us-Czechs?). OK, this is just short report from interesting competition which press you to think about flying F3F via mirror-everything is reverse :) |
