WelshOpen2005- F3F (03/10/05)
The only complication on this long journey (3600km) was flu accompanying me already from Prague; the rest was perfect. It was very pleasant to meet so many nice people from whole world and learn a lot.

Just few pictures from short visit to Viking Race 2004 at Cap Arcona. Meeting many friends, interesting people and top world F3F pilots is always worth of driving 800km.

Straight Down!- F3F (18/09/03)
HoheWand (BigRock), this was always for me sounding a bit misteriously. I'v heard about this competition already three years before from my comrade Vaclav Vojtisek (Sting family designer and producer). And I didn't undestand 100% what's going on there..

29.71- F3F (02/09/03)
That was deadly friday on South Slope in Donovaly (Slovakia). Amazing conditions, amazing people, amazing performance. Wind was something around 20m/s before noon, but afternoon it was much more than 25m/s.

Good message for Edgies. In Laussane, on FAI council, UK F3F 5sec rule modification was ACCEPTED. Czech and Austrian delegates were the only ones AGAINST this proposal.

Last weekend (Aug 4) was one of six big slope racing events in Japan every year. It was held at a place called "DaiKanBo". We had three Sting entered in the event (2x2.8 , 1x3.0).
The total number of pilots flying was 23. None of our Sting pilots had more than 2 hours of practice time before the event. The very first flight of the day was by a Sting 2.8, and the wind conditions were very bad. The pilot also used too much ballast, so he had a very poor run. The other two Stings did much better and, at the end of the event, VV Model Sting was #1 and #2. Champions!

This is ski lift from base camp. Notice guy seatting behind stool. I would recommend to bring maybe some 1-2 m climbing ropes with spring-hook to help you fix luggages. Maybe short bungees used for cars roofs would also be a good idea. Also with spring-hood. Weather can change fast and you will be on lift cca 18-20min. Be ready...

This is log from our journey from base camp to North racing slope.

...and better than this weekend. Saturday so so 4-7m/s and Sunday nothing. But thermals were working OK. This log is from my flight with NewSting. Adrenaline entertainment :)
|
Zoom to falling apeak from sky. In my experince it is better to start falling down exactly from top of your head. You will see glider nearly(?) whole time. When descending from somewhere sideways in front of you, you will reach moment when glider is just thin cross, it is very dangerous. You can loose control of model. I'd like to reach moment when glider will not speed up and speed will be steady. This can be very interesting maybe to measure REAL drag of whole glider(?!) Here was peak speed around 260km/h. My friend also tried something similar but from one third altitude...

I am sure you will pass by this wooden signepost in September (VR2002) many times. I have other interesting pictures from last weekend F3F Donovaly Races. Including altitude log from my best F3F time, 37.2 ;-) Vaclav Vojtisek (Sting/NewSting designer) was flying 35.2 but he doesn't use LOLO. His problem ;-)
Wouu ! Even altitude log from cableway which you will use everyday at VR2002 :)

In motion- F3F (7/6/02)
One weekend before we had F3F comp here. Exeptionally I will not speak about people, gliders, technic, results etc. Many pictures on the net are, in my eyes, too static. I try to offer you feeling of dynamics and motion looking through my camera. What did you say?

Hello Roman!
I wanted to give you an update on the Sting-DS. The Sting-DS handle some very turbulent conditions the other day. It was blowing about 20mph and extremely bumpy conditions but the Sting-DS handled it very well and remained stable.
Based on the diameter of the circle, witch I have measured more than once at an average of 250ft., and the lap times, I have estimated the speed in this video to be about 150-178mph. On the fastest laps. I haven't been in extreme conditions yet but I can tell it will handle some serious speed, especially if it gets smooth.
My goal is to get over 200mph. I am amazed at how stout the Sting-DS is but still light. It also handles great on the front of the hill in medium wind or better. And flies pretty good, surprisingly, in light conditions. There will be more videos coming soon with better sound quality and exact speeds taken by radar gun.
I also will get you some pictures. My graphic artist made some incredible stickers for it and it looks awesome. Thanks again for all your help and I will be contacting you again soon.
Sincerely, Kyle
P.S. I forgot to tell you. The first DS contest will be coming soon April 20th in Cape Blanco, Oregon. I am planing on going! I think the Sting-DS will be very competitive!
Picture is from Brett Jaffee´s website.

Sting review - F3F (26/12/01)
I first saw the Sting last year at an F3F race in Portugal. The model was being flown by the designer and builder, Vaclav Vojtisek, and he did rather well with it, a top ten placing if I remember correctly.

Everywhere there are some romantic corners. Maybe you know that feeling when you are alone on the hill, the wind is screaming and you enjoy that taste of space and scent of autumn.
Yes, last week there is beginning of astronomical spring here in Central Europe. Therefore my memory to autumn... :)))

Hi, all of you. Larry Scaramella (USA) presents you the best slopes on this nice blue planet. Maui, Maluhai and others in Hawai. The slope is cca 1km from sea, slope camber is 500m and bar with famous dancers is nearby;-) You have to use receiver accus as bigger as possible while his friend was flying 12.5 hours in one flight. World record?
On pictures down is Larry with his 12-old daughter.
Using pictures from Larry Scaramella Roman Vojtech (3/10/00)
Panorama picture is not from Hawai. It is Torrey Pines-San Diego (California USA). Thanks to Pierre Rondel.

View from Rana. Attention! 90k
|
|
This weekend there was first F3F contest on Rana. This hill on the North-West of Czech republic is something like Mecca of Slope Side Soaring here. Weather ? Sunny and windy (16m/s). Something like SSS paradise.
P.S. Ellipse 2V everybody will recognize and on the second picture there is Beretta, prototype of Sting from Vaclav Vojtisek. Really Top hotliner for Top pilots. Sting is Vaclav carying on first picture. (9/5/00)
(10/5/00) A few moments after taking this picture Sting was SHOT DOWN by one of our best EPP combat pilots Jarda Resatko. They were on such big hill only TWO in the air. It was accident (or not?:))))
